She Left Without Them

She left
They came
To say goodbye
All had stories
So many stories
Stories of how she
Saw them
Saved them
Showed them
Shoved them
Loved them
When did you last see her
Years
It’s been years
Years
Years
They wished for one more time
Yes that would have been good
One more time
To say thank you
I love you
I am sorry
She was lonely
No one
To see her
Save her
Show her
Shove her
Love her
So she died
Alone
Lonely

Poet’s Note April 2025

Wayne asked me where this one came from. I don’t really know. All I can say is it was there. It was there in the space of a 10 minute drive and it needed to be written down. Maybe it’s about life. Maybe it’s about the impact that one can have on others and then things change. Maybe it’s about becoming irrelevant. Maybe it’s about the quiet in the absence of the busyness I don’t really know. It was just there!
